Soccer Trick: Head-to-Shoulder-to-Neck Stall

A combination of stalls starting with the head. Head to shoulder, and then shoulder to neck. Stop stalling, and start stalling.

Being able to string several stalls together is a fantastic display of ball control. In this particular combination, Laurent starts with the head, transitions to shoulder, and then ends with a neck stall. He makes it look easy, but it’s really not. Each of those stalls takes dozens, maybe hundreds, of repetitions to master. It is just like any other soccer skill – confidence through repetition.

If you are working on combining different stalls, it’s important to remember that the TRANSITION is key. Even if you can do a head, shoulder, and neck stall perfectly but separately, that doesn’t mean you can do them in combination. So, it’s a good idea to practice JUST the transition movement.

For example:

In this trick, instead of starting from the beginning every time, try placing the ball on the shoulder and work on the transition to the neck several times. Also, you can place the ball on the head and work on the head-to-shoulder transition.

You might get frustrated trying to put all three together all at the same time. DO WHAT THE SCIENTISTS DO. BREAK IT DOWN INTO PARTS!
